A very small cute family owned and run out of their house/barn. Would definitely stay again and loved our tasting! The tasting was well priced and very informative, the meads were so good and there was a big variety! We ended up buying two bottles of the mead! A great quiet night!
We were lucky to stay at Run Amok Mead. The campsite was level and looked out onto a beautiful field. We had access to electric hook up which was great. The best was the mead! We had never tried any mead and really enjoyed learning about its history and sampling the different varieties. Be sure to include this stop when in the area.
We had the pleasure of staying at Run Amok on our way to Acadia and found our new favorite mead stop in New England! Even with the late arrival, we had the pleasure of learning all about meads during a private tasting with the hosts, whose love for their craft shined through in the stories and conversation throughout. Highly recommend for the perfect combo of a quiet night stay with a side of delicious meads.
Give it a shot - the owner certainly knows all about good honey!
I stayed here for a night on my way to northern Maine, and I'm glad I chose this HarvestHost! The parking was clearly marked, and the hosts were there to greet me. They were easy to communicate with, so they knew when I'd be arriving. There was plenty of space to walk my dogs, and it was a very peaceful evening. And the mead was wonderful, too!
My fiance and I LOVED our stay. Geoff and Christy are such wonderful and friendly people. The mead tasting is also an attraction all on its own. We had never tried it and left buying four bottles! Highly recommend these hosts will definitely be back!
Quiet home with barn and grassy areas with beautiful flowers.... Was very accommodating with signage and dog walk. Host greeted me and announced we would have a tasting at 5:30 after I picked my spot and got settled. The Misses introduced me to the "world of Mead" and then I picked six to taste. Really delicious and soon to become my favorite over traditional wine! I plugged in for a small fee to recharge. It was overall a great experience!
Christie and Geoff could not have been nicer. The mead tasting was truly unique because Christie spent a lot of time explaining the different meads and each one had a name and a story and a picture card, which was designed by them. You then pick 6 meads from the cards for your tasting. There are 32 to choose from! We had a nice quiet night and enjoyed the view. Even saw a deer in the meadow in the morning! Loved the his Harvest Host!
Geoff helped me get parked and electric hook up. Then on to the tasting! So many to choose from. I made my selections and Geoff told us about making mead and what went into the different varieties. I ended up buying some for myself and as gifts. I had a good night's sleep, mead and the quiet helped. The next morning I chatted a little with the other HH campers, who I hated to leave but I had somewhere I wanted to go. A very enjoyable stay! Highly recommend
I had tasted mead once before and didn't like it but when I got to Run Amok Mead I did a taste test. I learned a lot and actually bought 4 different flavors of mead to taste test with friends. Looking forward to doing that. Who knew mead could come in so many flavors? Our host was so nice and made everything fun and easy. The other campers were fantastic too and we spent a couple of easy hours the next morning talking before heading out to our next campsite. Definitely visit Run Amok Mead. It's a friendly and beautiful place to stay.
We both had such a great time tasting all there wonderful Meads!!! Geoff & Christy were super friendly and knowledgeable. We had a grest time with then for sure. The place was peaceful & quite and our little dog Zapata loved running in the field!!!
Geoff and Christy are amazing hosts with a stunning property of quiet fields and woods. The mead tasting was a highlight; they are so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. We stayed two nights with electric hookups and found it to be the perfect base for exploring nearby Gardiner. Don't miss the 19th-century barn and the cute tasting room!
Beautiful place. Great people. The mead tasting was a lot of fun and very informative. The conversation during the tasting was wonderful. Parking was easy and plentiful. We were there with four other Harvest Hosters. This place had an awesome sunset and an incredible sunrise. It was safe, clean and quiet. Off of our route but worth the ride.
We had a wonderful stay at Amok Mead. The farm setting was peaceful and charming, and the hosts were incredibly friendly. We really enjoyed chatting with them and learning about their mead-making process. The mead tasting was excellent and made the visit even more memorable. A relaxing overnight stop with genuine hospitality—highly recommended!
